Environment Saving Energy, Reducing Waste.

It is the policy of House of Westphalia Ltd to seek continual improvement throughout our business operations to lessen our impact on the local and global environment by conserving energy, water and other natural resources; reducing waste generation and recycling.

For many years we have contracted recycling for both cardboard and plastic.

In 2021 we revised the packaging of our volume selling convenience foods which reduced the plastic used by 67 tonnes per year. Without reducing the content weight, our new pack sizes and display boxes allowed an increase in the number of cases per pallet, to help maximise distribution efficiencies and offset rising fuel prices and CO2 emissions.

We have now completed a full installation of an efficient Solar Panels system on our site to provide almost 30% of our energy requirements. This investment delivers considerable fossil fuel energy savings, which over the lifetime of our system is equivalent to:-

Planting                    4856 Trees

(Not) Driving            469,426 miles

(Not) Flying on        541 Long Haul Flights

Eliminating   581900 KG of CO2 Emissions

Maintaining stable energy costs for the foreseeable future within the business should help us to continue supplying the keenest priced Convenience Foods at point of sale, in a cost effective way.
